This page describes how boards are actually controlled on our line. Where we hold a certification we will say so and show it; where we do not, we say that too.
In the process
Four checkpoints on every job
In-process checks
First-article check after setup, then sampling through the run. If the first board is wrong we stop, not after two hundred.
Final visual inspection
Every board is inspected against IPC-A-610 Class 2 workmanship criteria before packing, unless you specify a different class.
ESD-safe handling
Boards are handled and packed to ESD rules from placement to pallet.
What is included on every assembly job
Stencil, visual inspection, ESD-safe packaging and an itemized quote are part of every assembly order rather than options — you should not have to pay extra to find out what you are buying.
Electrical test on bare boards is included as well; it comes from the fab and we pass it through rather than charging for it separately.
IPC-A-610 Class 2 is the workmanship standard we build to. That is a description of how boards are judged, not a certification claim — see the honest position below.
Certifications — the honest position
Velbit's ISO 9001 certification has lapsed and has not been renewed.
We do not display certification logos we do not currently hold, and we would rather lose an enquiry over it than have you find out at an audit. If your procurement process requires a current ISO 9001 certificate from every supplier, tell us early and we will tell you honestly where the renewal stands.
What we can offer instead is a documented process, an engineer who will answer specific questions about it, and an open invitation to visit the plant in Veles and see the line yourself.
Quality questions
Do you hold ISO 9001?
Not currently — the certification lapsed and renewal is in progress. We describe our actual process above rather than implying otherwise.
What workmanship standard do you build to?
IPC-A-610 Class 2 by default. Specify Class 3 on the quote form if your product needs it and we will quote the extra inspection.
What happens if a board fails?
Tell us and send it back. If it is our workmanship we rework or rebuild it at our cost. If it is a design issue we will show you what we found.
Can we audit the plant?
Yes. Customers visit, and we would rather you did than take our word for it.
